General

Types of information we collect from you

NEVTi may collect and hold the information you give us either online or by email, post, facsimile, face to face, or over the phone.  Generally we will request personal and payment information such as your full name, mailing address, phone number, email address, facsimile number, and your credit card number in order to process your booking with us.

Purpose of information collection

Generally, we will collect and use your personal information for one or more of the following reasons:

• providing services to you
• processing an order you have made
• acting as your agent if you request us to do so
• undertaking various activities required by law
• providing you with information about other services that we, our related entities and other organisations that we have affiliations with offer, that may be of interest to you
• providing you with promotional information about us, our related entities and other organisations that we have affiliations with
• facilitating our internal business operations, including the fulfilment of any legal requirements
• analysing our services and customer needs with a view to developing new and/or improved services

How we collect information

Personal information will generally be collected directly from you through the use of any of our standard forms, over the internet, via email, or through a telephone conversation with you.  If the personal information you provide to us is incomplete and/or inaccurate, we may be unable to provide services to you, or to provide those services as scheduled.

Internet users

If you access our website, we may collect additional personal information about you such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and domain name.  NEVTi makes limited use of cookies on this website.  A cookie is a small message given to your web browser by our web server and can be used to identify users and to prepare customised web pages for them, and to allow logging in.  The browser stores the message, and sends the message back to the server each time you request a page from our website.  We may use cookies to monitor how you found our website and to collect statistics about how visitors use our website so that we can continually improve the site and serve you better.  You always have the option to disable cookies by turning them off in your browser, however, you should be aware that some of the services available on the NEVTi website will not work if you have chosen to do this.

Use and disclosure of information

Generally, we only use and disclose personal information about you for the purposes for which it was collected (as set out above), although, we may disclose personal information about you to:

• service providers who assist us in operating our business.  These service providers may not be required to comply with our privacy policy
• other service providers, who provide the various services that you have requested and we have arranged.  These service providers may not be required to comply with our privacy policy
• other organisations that we have affiliations with for the purposes of providing you with information about services and various promotions that might be of interest to you

North East Victoria Tourism Inc may use your information to measure your experience of our services and products, and to inform you of new product developments and associated services that we believe will interest you.  If you do not wish to receive email notices or other communications from NEVTi regarding additional products and services you may elect to unsubscribe by using this form.

We may also use your information in statistical form to analyse your booking preferences. This information is not used to track your individual preferences but rather to give us a general picture of the products and services our customers prefer, and as a way of identifying potential improvements for our products and services.  We might also gather information in statistical form such as the number of visitors who visit our website on a daily basis.  Again this is not used to track any individual customer's browsing habits.

We may also use your email communications with NEVTi to analyse customer service issues.  We may use your IP address to contact your Internet Service Provider to let you know of any problems with payments you have made to us where we believe this is reasonably necessary to protect against fraud and credit card misuse.

From time to time we may conduct competitions on our site in which we ask visitors for contact information (such as their email address).  All information provided remains confidential and will not be sold or transferred to other entities, and users may unsubscribe from receiving future mailings by using this form.

Third party service providers

On occasion, we may supply your personal information to third parties to perform services on our behalf, such as the following:

• the distribution of marketing information to you (except where you have chosen to unsubscribe from receiving this information from us)
• the supply of bank related services; or the supply of billing and payment services

Security

The transfer of information across any media may involve a certain degree of risk, and the Internet is no different, however, helping you to keep your information secure is very important to North East Victoria Tourism Inc.

In order to protect the security of personal information transmitted to NEVTi online, our Web servers support the use of the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Protocol where appropriate.  Using this protocol, information transferred between our systems is encrypted for your security.

In addition, in respect of any payment details you send to us, we reveal only the first six and last three digits of your credit card number on the tax invoice receipt that we send to you.  This is to help keep your credit card details secure.

We store your personal information in different ways, including in paper and in electronic form. The security of your personal information is important to us and we take all reasonable measures to ensure that your personal information is stored safely to protect it from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including electronic and physical security measures.

You can also use simple precautions to help protect your security, such as up to date internet security and virus protection software, and protecting against the unauthorised use of your credit card/s, numbers, or other authentication id. 

Access

You may access the personal information we hold about you, upon making a written request.  We will endeavour to provide you with access to the information requested within 30 days.  We may charge you a reasonable fee for processing your request.  We may decline a request for access to personal information where the Privacy Act requires us to do so.  If, upon receiving access to your personal information or at any other time, you believe the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, please notify us immediately. We will take reasonable steps to correct the information so that it is accurate, complete and up to date.

Our website may contain links to other websites.  We are not responsible for the privacy practices of linked websites and so linked websites are not subject to our privacy policies and procedures.

Changes

NEVTi may make changes to its privacy policy from time to time, and we suggest you check our website for any changes made to the policy.
